NOTE: The roadmap doesn't necessarily cover big campaign mode additions. * More customizable lighting/region settings (in island editor) * Control over lighting/region/etc in sandbox mode/etc * Support for spot lights (player cab?) on grass/blocks/particles/etc * Steam leaderboards and achievements (and cloud saves) * Voiceover before/after missions (and intro/tutorial/etc) OTHER BIG STUFF - These don't really fit anywhere else, they're just larger tasks I'd like to do (before 1.0 in most cases). * Speed up explosion calculations (batch forces/damage, apply once per frame) OPTIMIZATION - Just a list of things that could help speed up the game (by using multi-threaded code or switching to GPU-centric drawing techniques). Improved camera modes and camera controlsĢ-player modes (protect/destroy buildings, knock each other off island, etc) Not all the stuff in this is specific to that theme, but it makes sense to work on at the same time. LOCAL MULTIPLAYER - 2-player same-screen support. * Hardcore engineering challenges (island centered on start, more restrictive build limits) * New parts like: winches and grappling hooks * More physics gameplay elements (better/easier joints between structures, more structures that use joints, etc) * And adding these to many islands/sandbox mode/etcĮNGINEERING CHALLENGES - More physics-based puzzles/challenges/etc, with less focus on destruction/action and more on solving problems (separate islands/missions). * Island creatures (probably destroyable) * Crash Test Dummies, and possibly CTZombies Explodeable, multiple jointed parts, similar to plants but not attached * Non-driveable Vehicles (cars, trucks, trailers, etc) * Flying obstacles/creatures (seagulls, floating balloons/platforms, drones, etc)ĬREATURES AND THINGS - Focus on fleshing out the world with more things to interact with. * More UI customization support and options reorganization (multiple screens/tabs)įLYING VEHICLES - Aerial vehicles and missions * Full customization of menu and game controls * More large-scale objects to destroy/protect/etc (stationary and mobile)ĬONSOLE + CONTROLS - A focus on making the games controls fully customizable and adding full gamepad support in menus + vehicle building * More combat parts and precious cargo parts * New enemies/obstacles: Turrets, combat orbs, missile strikes, tank, hover/bombing drone Would likely create a separate campaign/mode to highlight these elements. * Option to hide (partially) parts while buildingĬOMBAT + CONFLICT - More gameplay elements/parts/etc that focus on action and conflict. * Logic parts with limited programmability * Rotating/snapping (and moving/separating selected items) SUPER VEHICLE BUILDING - Adding lots of enhancements to vehicle building to make more complex builds easier/faster to create. * Support for importing meshes for the world geometry and ability to disable water plane * Workshop support for islands + structures * Support for painting blocks different colors (insides/broken pieces will remain same color) * Wedge blocks for structures to increase potential structure shapes significantly WORLD BUILDING - Focused on expanding/improving the island/structure building possibilities and adding Steam Workshop support. All those caveats aside, let's get to it: Some of this stuff listed below will *NOT* make it into the game, while other unlisted things likely will. These are grouped by general theme, but that doesn't necessarily mean all the stuff listed under each heading will be in the same update. Not going to give a specific order to these tasks yet, but get down the big picture of what's planned long-term. EDIT NOTES : Focusing this post on the big picture and tasks ahead.
